This page explains how to delete your data from Veil Period & Cycle Tracker ("Veil"), the privacy-first period and cycle tracking app available on Google Play and the App Store. It describes the exact steps to remove your data and specifies which data is deleted, which is kept, and any retention period.
Veil has no user accounts and operates no server that stores your health data. Everything you log - period dates, flow, symptoms, mood, energy, sleep, weight, temperature, contraception, notes, tags, and predictions - is stored locally on your device in encrypted storage. Because of this, deleting your data is something you do directly on your device, and there is no account for us to erase.
Option 1 - Delete all data inside the app
This permanently erases everything Veil has stored on your device, while keeping the app installed.
- Open Veil.
- Tap the Settings gear icon.
- Tap Backup & Restore.
- Scroll to the bottom to the Danger Zone section.
- Tap Delete All Data.
- Confirm when prompted.
This immediately and irreversibly deletes your period history, flow, symptoms, mood, and notes; your tags, water, weight, temperature, sleep, energy, and pill logs; your profile, onboarding, and discreet-mode state; your app-lock PIN and biometric setting; the encrypted backup file stored on this device; and your cycle, period, and luteal-length overrides. It cannot be undone, so export a backup first if you want to keep a copy (see "Save a copy first" below).
Option 2 - Uninstall the app
Uninstalling Veil removes the app and all of its locally stored data from your device:
- Android: press and hold the Veil icon, then tap Uninstall (or go to Settings → Apps → Veil → Uninstall).
- iOS: press and hold the Veil icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App.
After uninstalling, no Veil data remains on the device. If a device-level OS backup (iCloud / Google) previously captured the app's encrypted file, that copy is governed by your device backup settings; clearing it follows your phone's standard backup-management controls.
Save a copy first (optional)
Before deleting, you can export a full backup of your data so you keep your own copy: open Settings → Backup & Restore and choose Export. You decide where the file goes through your phone's share sheet. Veil does not host backups for you.
What data is deleted, and what is kept
Deleted immediately and completely (on-device data)
All health and cycle data, daily logs, notes, tags, appointments, reminders, and app preferences are deleted the moment you tap Delete All Data or uninstall the app. We never held a copy of any of this, so there is nothing for us to retain on a server. Retention period: none - it is gone as soon as you delete it locally.
Anonymous analytics (optional, opt-out)
If analytics is enabled, Veil sends a small set of anonymous, counter-only events (for example, how many times a screen was opened) to Aptabase, an EU-hosted privacy-first analytics service. These events contain no identifiers, no health values, and no content, and are not linked to you or your device. Because they are anonymous and aggregated, an individual person's records cannot be singled out or retrieved for deletion. You can stop all future collection at any time in Settings → Analytics. Aptabase retains aggregate analytics per its own privacy policy.
Subscription data (Veil Plus subscribers only)
If you subscribe to Veil Plus, an anonymous random identifier and your store receipt are sent to RevenueCat to validate and restore your subscription. RevenueCat never receives your name, email, Apple ID, Google account, or any health data. Purchase records associated with billing are retained by Google Play / Apple and RevenueCat as required for billing, tax, refund, and legal-compliance purposes. The free tier of Veil transfers nothing to RevenueCat.
Requesting help or a deletion review
Because Veil holds no personal account data on a server, there is normally nothing for us to delete on your behalf - the controls above remove everything.
